While luxury coastal destinations dominated the top of Wave Connect’s digital nomad rankings, the study also highlighted more affordable alternatives for remote workers. New Smyrna Beach, Florida, ranked among the nation’s top ten with median studio rents around $1,700 per month, while Jacksonville Beach also earned high marks for affordability. Beyond the top ten, the report identified North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and St. Clair Shores, Michigan, as budget-friendly options offering laid-back waterfront lifestyles without the premium prices found in many coastal markets.

As remote work matures, affordability is becoming just as important as scenery. The next generation of digital nomad destinations may not be the most glamorous—they’ll be the places that offer the best balance between cost, connectivity, community, and quality of life.
